About Kampala One

kampalaone-logoKampala One is the brainchild of ace Ugandan arts journalist Moses Serugo. The website aims to offer an innovative model for local arts journalism by using technology to inform and engage people in the arts.

Kampala One will principally be an online arts journalism portal featuring stories about the Kampala arts scene. Our belief is that by providing feature stories, interviews and reviews, “arts-philes” will be better informed about what is happening. The wider Kampala community will also get to know about the creative and social opportunities available in the capital city of the Pearl of Africa.
Kampala One will strive to provide criticism and access to cultural events though an interactive website that is shared across various social media channels. The plan is to have a collective of trained arts journalists and hopefully an app. There are benefits to high quality local arts journalism because for the arts to thrive, the industry requires informed and engaged audiences, and informed and engaged audiences require news, criticism and information on a regular basis.
Our goal is to keep local arts coverage enlightening, engaging and sustainable by seizing the opportunity the digital age offers, and to use technology to connect with people in new ways. We hope you will partner with us in our pursuit to offer quality journalism, advance media innovation, engage communities and foster the arts.
